Travelling to Thailand
The Australian Consulate-General is not able to advise on Thai visa or immigration matters.
If you are in Australia and require information on entering Thailand, please contact the Royal Thai Embassy Canberra.
We also encourage you to read Australian Government’s Travel Advice for Thailand and our Planning to travel during COVID-19: step by step page.
Visas for Thailand (including visa extensions)
If you are in Thailand and require further information on Thai visas, including questions regarding the visa extension process or your own visa circumstances, please contact the Thai Immigration authorities directly. This applies to all visa types.
Thai Immigration Hotline: 1178
The Australian Consulate-General in Phuket or Embassy in Bangkok do not issue visa support letters.
You must apply for an extension of your stay directly to Thai Immigration authorities. In Bangkok you will need to make an appointment via the Immigration website. The length of time your extension will be granted is at the discretion of Thai authorities but will not exceed 60 days.
Short stayers (e.g. tourists) without visas should continue to make plans to depart Thailand OR where possible convert to a long-term visa. Long stayers with visas (e.g. expats, retirees) should ensure their visa status is compliant with Thai Immigration requirements.
